Portrait and wedding PhotographER

Hi, my name is Orquídea and I am the woman behind Sirena Varada Studio. I am someone who was born and raised in Mexico City but whose heart belongs to Oaxaca and who lived for a decade in Montreal, Canada. Years that I count in winters… (not for me).

Back in Canada, I had the chance of either continuing my existing career (Communication Sciences and Techniques) or start all over, I decided the latter. I enrolled in what would be my second degree, a three year program in Commercial Photography.

I was asked once by someone, “What kind of a person goes to school for so long just to study Photography?”
Well, a person like me.

I made Photography my career, and I treat it respectfully. Thanks to amazing teachers I learned the business side of this beautiful art. I love my job and I take it very seriously. I emphasize this because I want you to be confident that if we get to work together, I guarantee you professionalism.

I also work in the organization of photography workshops in Oaxaca and when I’m off duty, I do some street photography and go to the cinema religiously. I truly enjoy walking around, combining window-shopping and people-watching, after all, a I’m a visual person.

I am more of a private person and I prefer face to face connection rather than the ‘virtual’ one on social media. I still write everything down in notebooks. Call me old fashioned :)

Style and

Approach

My style leans towards intimacy and simplicity, and I prefer delivering fewer images that truly represent you and your loved ones, than a quantity of images that say very little.  Although I won’t get a photo of every guest, I will do my absolute best at seeking those often-missed moments that will capture the spirit of your special day.

I want to record the emotion, the details, the textures, and the personality of your wedding. My priority is to deliver a set of images to you that will evoke the memories of the day, memories that you will hold dearly for years to come.

I am drawn to subtlety, emotion and simplicity. I like things just as they are, so I will always favor natural light over flash photography. I like people being themselves but I will direct you when needed. Mostly, I want to capture those unforced, un-staged moments that happen completely organically, and this is the reason why I usually work solo, quietly and with discrete equipment.
